Refund and Billing Policy

Document type: Legal Owner: Dignity New Zealand Limited Applies to: Velnode Browser v2.0 and later Last updated: 2026-06-23 Document version: 1.0 Status: Approved

This Refund and Billing Policy applies to the optional paid Velnode Pro subscription sold by Dignity New Zealand Limited ("we", "us", "our") and processed through Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"). It supplements the Terms and Conditions (in particular section 4b) and the Privacy Policy (in particular section 4.9).

The free Velnode Browser is not subject to this policy. No payment is required to download or use the core browser.

1. Definitions

"Velnode Pro" means the optional paid subscription tier that adds hosted extras (increased encrypted-sync quota and priority support) to a Velnode Account.

"Subscriber" means a Velnode Account holder who has purchased a Velnode Pro subscription.

"Billing Period" means the subscription interval selected at checkout โ€” either one calendar month (monthly plan) or one calendar year (annual plan).

"Customer Portal" means the Stripe-hosted subscription-management interface accessible via "Manage subscription" in Velnode Account settings.

"Stripe" means Stripe, Inc., the payment processor that collects and handles all payment-card data on behalf of Dignity New Zealand Limited.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

It does not apply to:

3. Billing

3.1 Subscription plans and pricing

Velnode Pro is offered on two plans:

Plan Price
Monthly US$7.99 per month
Annual US$79.00 per year

Prices are tax-inclusive for New Zealand customers. New Zealand GST at 15% is calculated automatically at checkout by Stripe Tax. Customers in other jurisdictions may see different pricing or tax treatment as determined by Stripe Tax; the applicable tax treatment is shown on the checkout page before you confirm payment.

3.2 Payment processing

All payment collection is handled by Stripe. When you subscribe, you are directed to a Stripe-hosted checkout page. You enter your payment details directly into Stripe's secure form. Dignity New Zealand Limited never receives or stores your card number, CVV, or any other raw payment-card data (PCI scope SAQ-A).

Dignity New Zealand Limited is the seller of record. Stripe acts solely as the payment-processing sub-processor.

3.3 Auto-renewal

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each Billing Period. Before each renewal, Stripe charges the payment method on file for the next Billing Period. You will receive a receipt from Stripe at your registered e-mail address when the charge is made.

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe makes a small number of retry attempts over the following days. If the payment cannot be collected, your subscription lapses and your account reverts to the Free plan at the end of the current Billing Period.

3.4 Price changes

Dignity New Zealand Limited reserves the right to change subscription prices. Where a price change affects an existing subscription, we will give you at least thirty (30) days' notice at your registered e-mail address before the change takes effect on your next renewal.

4. Invoices and receipts

Every successful payment generates a tax invoice or receipt. You can access all invoices and receipts at any time in the Customer Portal.

For New Zealand customers, each invoice includes the GST component and Dignity New Zealand Limited's details as the seller of record. If you require a specific tax invoice format for accounting purposes, contact us at the address in section 8.

5. Cancellation

5.1 How to cancel

You may cancel your Velnode Pro subscription at any time through the Customer Portal. No cancellation fees apply.

  1. Sign in to your Velnode Account at velora://account.
  2. Select "Manage subscription".
  3. In the Customer Portal, choose "Cancel plan" and follow the on-screen steps.

5.2 What happens after cancellation

Your Pro subscription remains active until the end of the current Billing Period already paid for. You will not be charged for any further Billing Period after the cancellation date. At the end of the paid period, your account automatically reverts to the Free plan.

5.3 Effect on your data

Cancelling Velnode Pro does not delete your data. Your Local Data (browsing history, bookmarks, notes, timeline, vault) remains on your device and is unaffected. Encrypted sync data already stored on Dignity New Zealand Limited's servers is retained. Once your account reverts to the Free plan:

If you later re-subscribe to Pro, your full 1 GB quota is restored and the previously blocked data remains available.

6. Refunds

6.1 Statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. Where those Acts give you a right to a remedy โ€” including a refund โ€” that right is preserved regardless of what this policy says.

6.2 General refund position

Velnode Pro is a digital subscription service. Because the service becomes available immediately on payment, we do not offer automatic prorated refunds for partial Billing Periods that have already commenced.

If you cancel during a Billing Period, the subscription continues until the end of that period and no further charge is made. This is our standard remedy in place of a prorated refund.

6.3 When we will issue a refund

We will issue a full refund of a charge in the following circumstances:

Refunds are processed back to the original payment method via Stripe. Processing times are subject to Stripe's standard timelines and your card issuer's policies, typically three to ten business days.

6.4 How to request a refund

To request a refund, contact us at the address in section 8. Please include:

We will respond within five (5) business days.

7. Disputes

If you believe a charge on your statement is incorrect, contact us first at the address in section 8 so we can investigate and resolve the matter quickly. You may also raise a dispute with Stripe or your card issuer; however, raising a chargeback before contacting us may delay resolution.

8. Contact

Billing support inquiries, invoice requests, and refund requests should be addressed to:

Dignity New Zealand Limited Email: [email protected]

We aim to respond to all billing inquiries within five (5) business days.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be notified at your registered e-mail address at least fourteen (14) days before they take effect for existing subscribers.
