This Cookie Policy explains how Velnode Browser handles cookies and other browser-storage mechanisms.
Velnode is itself a web browser. The cookies you encounter while using Velnode are set by the websites you visit, not by Velnode or by Dignity New Zealand Limited. Each cookie is governed by the privacy policy of the website that set it.
Velnode respects the cookie controls you set in Settings, including blocking third-party cookies and clearing cookies on close. These controls operate locally on your device and do not transmit your cookie state to Dignity New Zealand Limited.
Velnode does not set first-party cookies for its own purposes. The internal Velnode pages โ the New Tab page, the Dashboard, the Timeline view, the Markdown viewer, the PDF viewer, the Settings page, the Sticky Memory page, the History page, and the Blocked page โ are local files. They do not require, set, or read cookies for Velnode's own functionality.
For integrity and auditability, Velnode deliberately avoids localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB for its own persistent state. Velnode's state lives in plain JSON files under the data/ directory on your device. This makes the state easy to inspect, back up, and delete.
The websites you visit may still use localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, the Cache API, and the Service Worker API. Those storages are subject to the same Velnode privacy controls as cookies and are governed by the originating website's privacy policy.
If you configure Vee to use a cloud AI provider, requests routed to that provider may include cookies set by the provider's domain in the context of its API. Those cookies are controlled by the provider and are governed by the provider's own cookie and privacy policies.
A plugin you install in Velnode may, if you have granted it the necessary permission, set cookies in the context of a domain it serves. Permissions ship deny-by-default; you must explicitly grant a plugin cookie access before it can do this. See the Acceptable Use Policy ยง4 for plugin obligations.
You can control cookies in Velnode in the same way you control them in any major browser:
Velnode does not maintain an external "do-not-track" relationship with any party. There is no central Velnode cookie consent banner because Velnode itself sets no first-party cookies; consent banners you see while browsing belong to the websites you visit.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision.
